Admissions

Admissions
As a maintained community Primary School, Nursery applications are handled directly by the school but all other admissions (from Reception to Year 6) are handled by Lambeth Council. This means that Lambeth Council also manage the school's waiting lists.

Apply on time and apply online!
We strongly advise you to apply online. Online applications can be made from 1st September 2023.

Applying online is:

  • Free, easy and secure
  • Your application won’t get lost in the post
  • This online system is available seven days a week, 24 hours a day until midnight on 15th January 2024
  • You get the outcome of your child’s application on the evening of Tuesday 16th April 2024 - before you will receive your letter.

If you can't apply online
There will be a limited amount of paper forms for applying for a primary school place but these are only families who cannot access the internet.

You can collect a paper form from Lambeth Customer Service Centre (Brixton) - Lambeth Civic Centre, 6 Brixton Hill, London, SW2 1EG.

Then return your completed form to:

  • by Hand - Lambeth Customer Service Centre - Lambeth Civic Centre, 6 Brixton Hill, London, SW2 1EG. An appointment to do this is required and can be booked online at lambeth.gov.uk
  • Or post it to Lambeth using the correct postage at:

Lambeth School Admissions Team, PO Box 734, Winchester, SO23 5DG

We recommend that you use recorded delivery to ensure you have proof of postage.

Proof of address
You need to attach the correct proof of address documents to your application, otherwise your child’s application may be withdrawn and no offer made at a school. Please click here for a list of accepted documents.

Supplementary information forms (SIFs)
Some schools ask you to complete a SIF. Kings Avenue Primary does not require a SIF.

For schools in other boroughs, please check their literature.

It is very important that the SIFs are completed and sent to the schools by their set deadline otherwise your child may miss out on a preferred place.

Moving house or change of details
The Lambeth School Admissions Team will consider your application using the details you provide on your form.

If you move address you must tell the School Admissions Team of your new address so we are able to contact you if we need more information or to tell you the result of your application. Also you will need to provide new proof of address documentation for you and your child.

This also applies if you have a change of medical circumstances or a sibling starts at a preferred school. Please note that changes to preferences after the deadline for on time applications are not permitted.

National Offer Day
Tuesday 16th April 2024 is National Offer Day, when letters are sent out and you can check the eAdmissions portal for the outcome of your application.

If you applied before the deadline, on 16th April 2024 you will be sent a letter by first class post telling you the outcome of the application. You will be sent a letter whether you made your application online or by post.

If you applied online, you will receive an email (and a text if you are signed up to text alerts) on the evening of 16th April 2024 to tell you that you need to log on to the eAdmissions portal to view your child’s application outcome.

Appeals

If your child has been refused a place at one of your preferred schools, you have the right to appeal the decision under the 1998 School Standards and Frameworks Act (“The Act”). You will need to lodge your appeal with the Local Authority (LA) for that school or the school which controls its own admissions. Please click here for more information.
